In a recently released report by SearchMetrics, content was found to be the most important aspect in SEO. In essence, the content on a webpage is what helps increase search engine rankings.
When you produce content, search engines are looking for quality. What is the length of the content being produced? How relevant is it? Is it updated frequently? These are all questions a company needs to determine in order to maximize its SEO results. According to SearchMetrics’ Marcus Tober:

Sophisticated algorithms perform search engine rankings and analysis to determine how highly your website should be placed in search results. The question that is asked is: how does quality content affect these results? Basically, these algorithms are ranking sites based on keyword searches, engagement, length of stay, and many other factors that all come together to produce the most relevant results a user is looking to view. The better crafted the content; the better it will be ranked in these factors, which will lead to higher rankings and more traffic.
For example, if you are looking for information about Apple’s recently announced Apple Watch, you will search: Apple Watch. The results you see have been optimized based on relevance, quality of content, and whether there is value in what you’re viewing.
